The Storyteller Chef On Country Dinner

Overview

There are dinners, and then there are dining experiences like no other. Centered on food, culture, native ingredients and storytelling, The Storyteller Chef On Country Dinner Package brings together two storytellers - one through country, one through food - for an experience that couldn't happen anywhere else.

Nathan Djerrkura and the Buymarr family are welcoming guests to their homeland: a pristine, secluded stretch of the Gulf of Carpentaria coastline in East Arnhem to celebrate and share Yolŋu traditional foods, native ingredients and stories of sea and land country.

Joining the family is Zach Green - The Storyteller Chef - a proud Indigenous man who has spent his life honouring the belief that food carries history, culture, and connection. Inspired by his Nan's mastery of flavour and the art of using ingredients as words, Zach creates immersive dining experiences that keep the art of cultural storytelling alive, one dish at a time.

Over two nights and two days, you'll forage and catch food from the land and sea alongside the family, learning the traditional hunting and harvesting skills that have sustained the Wangurri people at Buymarr for generations. Each evening, those ingredients become the centrepiece of a three-course dinner under an open sky - fire-lit and unhurried, with the flavours of Country woven into dishes that honour the land, its people, and the stories that live here.

As the fire settles, the storytelling begins. This is how knowledge has always been shared at Buymarr, and for these two nights, you are part of it.
