Nhulunbuy is located on the Gove Peninsula, approximately a nine hour drive from Katherine via the Central Arnhem Road, and is the largest town in East Arnhem Land. Established in the 1960s to service a bauxite mine on the Peninsula, Nhulunbuy has since grown to become the fourth largest town in the Northern Territory with a population of approximately 3350.
